Lively, interactive and just a little intoxicating, the DDR Museum presents life in the former GDR as it was experienced by ordinary people. Omitting nothing from its honest appraisal, the exhibition provides an insight into the world of Real Existing Socialism – the Free German Youth, the Stasi, tower blocks, a Trabant, the political opposition and much more. Journey back in time not just to view, but experience this past – dance the Lipsi or rummage through the cupboards of an authentic GDR living room. Touch, hold, smell and feel – interaction is the operative word.

Greeting its guests in a modern setting, the Domklause serves classic GDR dishes such as Goldbroiler, Jägerschnitzel and Soljanka. Wines from the regions of the former East Germany, Berliner Bürgerbräu beer and GDR cocktails round off this unique culinary experience.
